RNB Property Management respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information entrusted to us.
This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, retained, and disclosed when you:
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “RNB,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the RNB Property Management office that collects or receives your personal information.
RNB Property Management operates through three separately licensed California real estate brokerages: RNB Property Management (DRE #01900856), RNB Property Management Elk Grove (DRE #02062331), and RNB Property Management Golden Gate (DRE #02147314). The office responsible for your information may be identified through the office page you selected, your application, management agreement, lease, correspondence, portal, or other transaction documents.
An office may provide an additional privacy notice when its practices or legal obligations differ from those described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected online and offline in connection with RNB property management, leasing, rental application, tenant, resident, property owner, maintenance, vendor, and website operations.
Personal information means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked to an individual or household.
Personal information does not include information that has been aggregated, anonymized, or deidentified so that it cannot reasonably be associated with an individual or household.
The information we collect depends on how you interact with RNB.
We may collect:
When you search for or inquire about a rental property, we may collect:
When you apply to rent a property, we or our service providers may collect:
Consumer reports and screening information may be subject to additional disclosures, authorizations, and rights under federal and state consumer reporting laws.
If you become a tenant or resident, we may collect:
If you own property or request property management or leasing services, we may collect:
We or our payment service providers may collect:
Payment information may be collected and processed directly by AppFolio, banking institutions, payment processors, or other payment service providers. RNB may not receive or retain complete payment card or banking credentials when those credentials are entered directly into a third party payment system.
When you submit, receive, or perform maintenance or vendor services, we may collect:
We may collect information contained in:
Please do not send Social Security numbers, government identification documents, bank account credentials, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary email or unsecured website messages unless RNB has specifically provided a secure method for doing so.
When you use our website or online services, we may automatically collect:
We may use this information to operate the website, maintain security, prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, understand website usage, measure advertising performance, and improve our services. See Section 8 for details on cookies and online tracking.
Some information we collect may be considered sensitive personal information under applicable law. This may include:
We use sensitive personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide requested services, process applications, manage properties and tenancies, prevent fraud, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and carry out other purposes permitted by law.
We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about individuals for advertising purposes.
We may collect personal information from:
When you provide personal information about another person, you represent that you are authorized to provide that information and that you have provided any notice or obtained any consent required by law.
We may use personal information to:
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients when reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Applicant, tenant, resident, maintenance, lease, payment, and property information may be disclosed to the owner or landlord of the applicable property.
Property owners may receive application information, screening summaries, tenant records, maintenance information, financial records, and other information reasonably necessary to make decisions or manage the property.
We may disclose personal information to AppFolio and other providers of:
These providers may process personal information on our behalf or as otherwise described in their own privacy notices.
We may disclose personal information to tenant screening companies, consumer reporting agencies, background screening providers, identity verification providers, fraud prevention providers, and related services.
These providers may obtain information from credit bureaus, public records, prior landlords, employers, references, and other lawful sources.
We may disclose information to:
We may disclose information to:
We limit the information disclosed to what is reasonably necessary for the service being provided.
Our website uses Google advertising technologies. Identifiers, cookie data, IP address, and information about your interactions with our website may be disclosed to Google so that we can measure advertising performance and reach people who have visited our website. See Section 7 and Section 8 for your choices.
We do not disclose application, screening, tenancy, financial, or other sensitive information to advertising providers.
We may disclose information to attorneys, accountants, auditors, insurance professionals, consultants, and other professional advisers.
We may disclose personal information:
Personal information may be disclosed or transferred as part of a merger, sale, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, transfer of management accounts, or sale of some or all of a business or its assets.
We may disclose personal information when you direct us to do so or when you provide consent.
RNB does not sell personal information, as the term “sell” is defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act. That definition covers disclosure for monetary or other valuable consideration, and we do not disclose personal information for either.
“Selling” and “sharing” are separate terms under that law. We do not sell. We do engage in activity that may be treated as sharing, which is described below.
RNB does not disclose customer personal information to unaffiliated third parties for those third parties’ own direct marketing purposes.
We do use Google advertising technologies on our website. When these technologies are active, online identifiers and website activity may be disclosed to Google in a way that California law may treat as “sharing” personal information for cross context behavioral advertising. We treat this activity as sharing so that you receive the full benefit of your privacy rights.
The categories of personal information that may be shared for cross context behavioral advertising are limited to identifiers, internet and network activity information, and approximate location derived from an Internet Protocol address. The category of recipient is Google, as our advertising provider.
We do not share application, screening, tenancy, payment, or sensitive personal information for cross context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Your choices. You may opt out of this sharing by:
Browser cookie settings and Google’s own advertising controls at adssettings.google.com may reduce certain tracking or personalized advertising. They are useful, but they are not substitutes for the opt out methods above, because clearing a cookie does not instruct RNB or Google to stop sharing information.
Status for this browser: We have not detected an opt-out preference signal from this browser. Advertising technologies described in Section 8 may be active.
If our practices change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices and privacy choices required by applicable law.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies in two categories.
These are used to:
Our website loads Google advertising tags that set cookies and collect online identifiers. We use these to measure which advertisements and campaigns lead to rental inquiries and owner leads, and to present our advertisements to people who have previously visited our website.
You may adjust your browser to block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent portions of the website, forms, portals, or other services from working properly. Blocking advertising cookies does not affect website functionality.
Where required by applicable law, we recognize legally valid browser based opt out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control. When our website receives a request carrying such a signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sharing of personal information for cross context behavioral advertising, and the advertising technologies described above are not loaded for that browser and device. The opt out applies to every page you visit while the signal is enabled.
Section 7 displays whether we detected and honored an opt out preference signal from the browser you are using right now, so you can confirm the behavior rather than take our word for it.
Some browsers provide a Do Not Track setting. Because there is not currently a universally accepted standard for interpreting Do Not Track signals, our website does not respond to general Do Not Track browser settings. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described above.
Our website may contain links to or integrations with AppFolio, payment providers, screening providers, mapping services, social media services, maintenance platforms, advertising providers, and other third party websites or services.
A third party may have its own privacy policy and terms. RNB is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of an independently operated third party service.
You should review the privacy policy of a third party service before providing personal information directly to that service.
If you provide a mobile telephone number, RNB may send text messages relating to your inquiry, showing, application, tenancy, maintenance request, or account.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, or by contacting the applicable RNB office. Reply HELP for assistance.
No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except for the service providers that help us deliver the messages.
Stated more precisely: mobile telephone numbers and text messaging consent information are not sold, and are not disclosed to third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
Opting out of text messages does not opt you out of email, telephone, or written notices that we are required or permitted to send in connection with a tenancy, application, or management agreement.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy or as required or permitted by law.
The criteria used to determine retention periods include:
Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.
Application and screening records may be retained after an application is approved, denied, withdrawn, or abandoned when reasonably necessary to comply with fair housing, consumer reporting, recordkeeping, or legal requirements.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete, destroy, deidentify, or anonymize it in accordance with our records management practices and applicable law.
RNB uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
These safeguards may include:
No website, email system, software platform, storage system, or method of transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that personal information will never be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed without authorization.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your portal credentials and notifying us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
Our website and services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through our website, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
A parent, guardian, applicant, tenant, or property owner may provide information about a minor occupant when reasonably necessary for a rental application, lease, tenancy, emergency contact, or other legitimate housing purpose.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information directly to us without appropriate authorization, contact the applicable RNB office so that we can review and address the situation.
Depending on where you reside and which laws apply to the applicable RNB office, you may have the right to:
These rights are not absolute. We may deny or limit a request when permitted or required by law, including when information must be retained to:
To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to the applicable RNB office, California residents may have the following rights:
You may request that we disclose:
You may request deletion of personal information collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
You may request correction of inaccurate personal information maintained about you.
You may request that a covered business not sell or share your personal information.
RNB does not sell personal information. RNB does share limited online identifiers and website activity information with Google for cross context behavioral advertising, and you may opt out using any of the methods described in Section 7.
Where applicable, you may request that certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information be limited.
RNB uses sensitive personal information only for purposes reasonably necessary to provide property management, leasing, screening, tenancy, payment, maintenance, security, legal, and related services, and not to infer characteristics for advertising.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
You may submit a privacy request by:
Please identify your request as a “Privacy Request” and provide enough information for us to understand and process it.
Do not send a copy of your Social Security card, driver’s license, passport, bank statement, or other sensitive identification document unless we specifically request it through a secure method.
We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need more time, we will notify you and may extend our response by an additional 45 calendar days, for a maximum of 90 calendar days from the date we received your request.
Before fulfilling certain requests, we may need to verify your identity and authority to make the request.
Verification may require us to compare information provided in the request with information already maintained by RNB.
We will request only the information reasonably necessary to verify the request. Information collected for verification will be used for that purpose and other purposes permitted by law.
You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf where permitted by law. We may require:
